First seminars for mentors and mentees

On 13-14 October first seminars for mentors and mentees were held under a mentoring programme for entrepreneurs of the U.S. Russia Center for Entrepreneurship (CFE) implemented with the assistance of IBLF.

The aim of the programme is to provide help of experienced entrepreneurs (mentors) to young entrepreneurs. The approach is based on the many years of experience of Youth Business International (YBI). YBI has created a global network of affiliates, which in Russia is represented by IBLF. The program is adapted for Russia by the IBLF Branch Office in Russia.

Mentoring is a practical approach to helping entrepreneurs to develop their own abilities and insights as they start and grow their business. Mentoring has a longer-term developmental focus, aiming to broaden mentees’ perspectives and extend their horizons. Years of experience of several countries has shown a direct relationship between successful interaction with a mentor and increase the likelihood of successful business / sustainability business / timely repayment of the loan.

During the seminar for mentors participants learned about the role of mentors, characteristics of the good mentor, what benefits receive mentors and mentees. Young entrepreneurs also received training on how to work with mentors. Boris Tkachenko, YBR programme manager, Head of IBLF Russia Branch conducted the seminars. During the whole program (12 months) he will be in contact with pairs “mentor-mentee”.
