Youth Business Russia (YBR): 3 years in the Kaluga Region

Due to the 3 year anniversary of the Youth Business Russia Programme in the Kaluga Region (YBR in the KR) a series of events was held in the House of the Government dedicated to that date.

The presentation of the programme in the form of an enlarged session of the Supervisory Board involving young entrepreneurs has become the main event. This meeting addressed the issues of mentorship and was used as a unique site for a dialog between the representatives of the state agencies and public sector and young entrepreneurs. Valuable advice and recommendations were given by the representatives of the following entities: Kaluga Agency for Small and Medium Business Support, Young Entrepreneurs Club of the KR, State Foundation for Entrepreneurship Support, Kaluga Regional Ministry for Labour, Employment and Human Resources Policy, Ministry for Information Society and Innovations Development of the KR, Ministry for Education and Science of the KR, the Kaluga Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Kaluga subdivision of OOO Women’s Microfinance Network, International Business Leaders Forum (IBLF), Oxfam, and Association of Russian Women Entrepreneurs. The lively discussions held by the participants have resulted in a detailed actions plan to be implemented within the next months.

The young entrepreneurs taking part in the meeting reported what was important for them in the YBR Programme and why they were interested in cooperation with the mentors. KPMG and Hogan Lovells, the Programme partners, held training seminars for the young entrepreneurs on the issues of taxation of enterprises and legislation in the small business legal area. On the same days the regular session of the Expert Council of the programme was held on the issues of the business projects consideration and evaluation.

The two days of working allowed to take the next step establishing cooperation relations between various government, youth, and public entities, associations, and clubs following the same major objective: to develop and encourage the activity of the youth and support the youth initiatives within the Kaluga Region.
